^Lot 4048 ANTIQUE 3RD MODEL WINCHESTER 1873 LEVER ACTION

MUSKET. Cal. 44-40. S# 157169. Mfg. 1884. It is fitted with a 30" musket bbl with early 2-line bbl address "WINCHESTERS-REPEATING-ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CT. / KINGS-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED- MARCH 29. 1866, OCTOBER. 16. 1860." & "44 Cal" cal marking. It has an iron block front sight to accommodate the socket bayonet made for these muskets. Musket rear sight. The nearly full length forearm is held with 3 bbl bands with a sling swivel at the center. The dust cover is of the serrated edge type with integral dust cover guide rail. The upper tang is marked with the 2nd type "MODEL. 1873" with foliate accents. Flat comb musket butt with smooth steel trapdoor buttplate and sling swivel. CONDITION: overall fair as refinished. The metal surfaces have been refinished decently over pitting maintaining strong markings. The stock set has been sanded and oiled with some dents and a chipped toe that has been sanded round. Decent bore with good rifling and some light frosting/pitting. (01-28781/ZAL). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,800.
